Better Blogging Best of August 2007

End of the month wrap-up of the best that was August 2007!

Best Posts

August 5: I wrapped up my 7 keys in 7 days series, in which I covered my 7 keys to better blogging for a week: a key each day. The 7th and last key is Personal Productivity.

August 6: My review of Windows Live Writer attracted a few people and had some good comment activity.

August 7: I kicked off my big series on How to Start a Business Blog, which went on for 11 more posts! It’s a big topic and even at 11 posts I could only but skim the surface of the steps and topics involved. Many of these posts represent some of my best blogging, but for the best of August I’ll just link to the first post in the series.

August 20: Search Like an Expert on Google provides some tips for gettin’ around in the big G. Because better bloggers know how to find what they want online.

August 22: I use myself and my own expriences as an example on how to build highly qualified web traffic.

Best Links

August 3: Chris Garrett offers up some ideas for surviving the summer blogging slump.

August 10: Shoemoney’s fantastic post on online/offline arbitrage.

August 17: Tadeusz Szewczyk, of SEO 2.0 (Just call him Tad) gave a review of michaelmartine.com. His advice was great–I have implemented some of his suggestions and plan to implement a couple more of them soon.

August 24: The Wall Street Journal has a great article on the benefits of business blogging.

Best Commentators

I like to reward my commentators. I have removed “nofollow” from comments and links and I have a continuously running list of top commentators. For this end-of-month review, I’m introducing something new: a list of the top commentators with links back to their sites. These links will exist long after someone else takes the top commentator spot for a week or two.

Hoobin Center, a resource for making money online, has the top spot for August by far, with a total of 9 comments (and add to that whatever he says on this post! :D ).

Greg Balanko-Dickson also had quite a few comments throughout the month. He had the most early in the month and has since dropped off (I know you’re busy, Greg!).

Skellie has not only been a great read and I’ve linked to her several times, but she’s also been one of the top commentators here! Her comments have been some of the most insightful, as well.

I want to thank all who have commented here, but I especially want to thank my most prolific and insightful commentators! You folks rock!

Thank you Michael! I noticed the gradual changes. Although just details changed the effects are highly visible. Maybe you should move the Technorati widget also to the right column btw. to be consistent.
    P.S.: Skellie rocks!

Thanks, Tad. Glad you noticed your suggestions weren’t being ignored! :) I haven’t gotten around to redoing the T’rati widget yet. I’m going to strip it down and yes, move it.

Thanks, Ken, that is something I’m definitely doing as a purposeful strategy. When bloggers who are recently starting out can become friends or contacts and form a loose, unofficial network, all the blogs involved often grow traffic and influence together. A lot of so-called A-list bloggers are all friends with each other. Often, they began as friends and remained so during their growth, continuously supporting and linking to, and driving traffic to each other.
